Parents of children who attend Victorian public schools are being treated as worthless.
The State Labor Government has introduced laws giving schools the power to silence parents and remove their rights.
Concerns over the Safe Schools and Doctors in Schools programs have encouraged parents to speak out – and so they should.
Some implications of these programs are:
· Girls as young as 12 will be able to obtain the contraceptive pill from doctors stationed in government schools.
· A teacher’s opinion can be sought to help a doctor assess a case and potentially override any parent refusing consent.
· Children are being provided with Internet links to learn how to use sex aids.
· Masturbation is taught in class.
· Pre-schoolers are being groomed for sexuality and gender education.
However, removing parental rights doesn’t stop here. The State Labor Government has introduced additional laws giving the Minister of Education total control over who teaches our children, and where.
- If a child is away from school, charges can be laid against parents.
- A principal can prepare a certificate of absence to be used in proceedings against parents.
- Parents who choose to home school their children must provide detailed plans of what will be taught.
- Attendance officers have the right to enter the family home to inspect the home school.
The State Labor Government has also introduced laws that essentially give public schools parental responsibility:
- Principals, teachers and other workers in a school have the same rights as parents over any child.
- Anyone working in a Government school must apply the principles of secular education. At the same time, however, they can follow any leader of any philosophy, religion or faith.
- Parents Victoria, an organisation paid to advocate for the rights of parents, is backing the Victorian Labor Government.
What is happening in Victorian public schools can no longer be ignored or left to others to address. Any laws that are binding in Victorian public schools are binding outside the public education sector, and outside Victoria.
Every parent, including teachers and principals who are parents, must act now.
