Is the Male Teacher an Endangered Species?

Where have all the male teachers gone? The table above shows the percentage of female teachers in primary/elementary schools around the world, in 2015.

Do you agree that these statistics are unacceptable? Who, or what, is driving this trend? What is the philosophy or agenda behind it? What would be the consequences if it were to continue?

We must explore all possibilities, regardless of their complexity, if we are to achieve necessary fundamental change

Do you want a world in which men become extinct in our schools?

The world needs men. Schools need men. The world needs to value men.

This isn’t about playing another gender card. It’s the beginning of a humane and critical movement – for everyone’s sake.

The world needs men. Schools need men. The world needs to value men.

We must engage in robust debate and listen to wide-ranging views – especially those with which we don’t immediately agree.

We must explore all possibilities, regardless of their complexity, if we are to achieve necessary fundamental change: to raise the bar of education in schools and bring more men back into our classrooms.

Would you agree that these statistics are unacceptable? Should you do something about it? Have you the courage to do it?

I certainly have the courage. I’ve started a movement for change. Help me continue it.
